I bought a beauty just like this one in 1982. Still have it, still play it. I am a guitar player mainly, do some bass playing for songwriting and recording purposes. My TSB 400 features on some smaller cd releases and video/dvd/cd-rom projects. It just works fine in different styles of music, reacts well to different finger techniques. In a direct comparison I think you can tell it's not a Fender but who cares. It has only occasionally been out on the road and I don't play it every day. Yet it's been tuned and ready to grab for 25 years on, and it is still in its original state. Recently I had some problems due to some loose wiring, which I could repair by myself. I hardly ever sell an instrument, I always get way too much emotionally involved with them (blah, sounds like emo shit but it is true). This one is really in my top-3 list - matching nicely with my TS 400 solid body guitar from 1980, which is my #1 instrument...

This one was my first bass guitar back in 1982.
Though it is a quite heavy one, it is very durable and produces a nice sound with its two humbucker style pick ups. I stopped bass playing for more than 20 years and just have re-started. Know what?
Bought a brabdnew Ibanez EDB700, which is quite satisfying, but also still use my good old TSB-400. Never would give it away. For no money!!!!
