1. National Violin body shaped (beatle) Bass - 2 months ago - Koeller (U.S.A) Purchase year : 2006 Rating : i got the bass from a friend. it was a present. the 1967 national bass was made in USA and has a totally retro vibe. the tone is dark and woody, perfect for 60's rock, folk, or even jazz. at first, the action was a mile high, but after i adjusted the truss-rod, it plays like a champ. i installed GHS Bass Boomers Light Gauge, Round-Wound strings. 95/75/55/40. with the proper Ampeg Bass Stack, this vintage bass could be used for heavy metal, filling up a stadium with hair metal/Screamo/Etc. This bass has an awesome tone, and has very incredible overtones and Harmonics thanks to the really hot pick-ups. In todays market, this national beatle bass is worth an estimated $1,065 and going up steadily. It aint no Hofner, but wayyyyy cooler in a garage band kinda way!
