The Dmx digital drum machine (which uses 12 bit samples of real individual drum sounds) was released in the christmas of the year 1981.
iIt followed the new trend for that time,the likes of the amazing Linn drum mk1 came out in 1979 and of course this is a clone in a lot of ways but not just as good.
this seemed to be a drum machine of choice for a lot of the fab black artists and hi nrg dance people of the 1982 84 period and the drum machine is a feature of the now infamous "blue monday" track by new order.
if you can find one buy it,you will not be too let down as the quality is very clear and succinct.
you can tune each sound individually and mix its own volume, you can drum roll and flam and syncapate etc and chain any patterns you yourself choose to record to build up the rythim.
any thing you can do with normal drums you can do digitally here....
