A wonder machine - one of my best recordings -Apache -origin from the Shadows -
is still one of my preferred recordings - even in comparision with many others i.e.
Roland vs 2480 !!! Very fine equilizing - good recording quality - for only 4 paquets of marlborough on ebay - unbelievable - top quality EVEN TODAY WITH the digital machines! Take one if you found it - and you´ll be happy ! :-)
jn - recording expert since 30 years i.e. playing & recording with santana, scorpions, abd and .... Excellent for demo recordings!

Tascam Porta 07 - 1 year ago - Nelson (UK)
Purchase year : 1995 Price paid : 300 GBP

The Porta07 is a great little cassette-based four-track. It records at 3.75 ips (double normal tape speed for better quality), is rugged as hell, it has the typical thick Tascam sound (which I think is great - I certainly prefer it to Fostexs or
Yamahas), and with an adaptor or two you can dump all four tracks out simultaneously. The only bad things about it are that you can only record two tracks at once, it's tape-based, and it hasn't got balanced mic inputs, but to be honest nothing around this price has those features either.
Obviously you can get something better nowadays but if you happen to grab one dead cheap you won't regret it.
