My name is chris and I purchased a pair of these speakers along with another pair of traynor, yorkvilles tower speakers which have 4 8" woofers in them for 200$ they are in mint condition. Reading your review has now made me appreciate them even more. Now that I know the specs gives me a better understanding of what they are worthy of. I also play in a band hopefully these will come in handy, Cool taker easy.

Yamaha S4115H - 5 months ago - Freer (USA)
Purchase year : 1980 Price paid : 450 USD (used)
Rating :
The S4115H speaker is an excellent all around two way speaker system. It works equally well in PA vocal applications, as well as instrument applications, especially for keyboards. The cabinets are rated a conservative 100W RMS with an excellent SPL of 101db. Frequency response is rated from 70Hz to 15kHz, but as an owner I can attest that they exceed that - both above and below the listed rating. The crossover network is a 12db/octave butterworth and is crossed at 2kHz. The JA 3803 (white)15" woofer delivers a smooth sound with plenty of bottom and mids, while the JA 4201 Driver and cast aluminum horn handle the upper end of the sound spectrum very well..nice highs without the tinniness that some metal horns can produce.
The cabinet is a ported horn loaded design that focuses the sound forward. On the rear of the cabinet there are two parallel inputs and a horn attenuation control that lets you roll back the high end to suit your taste. However, at the normal setting, I've found the the frequency response to be most satisfactory. These babys can really project the sound!
The only negative that might be a factor is the weight - 120Lb. The cabinets are 3/4" epoxy resin particle board ( HEAVY )covered in a nice leatherette vinyl. They have metal protective corners and heavy duty recessed handles. They are extremely solidly built and road worthy.
As for the sound, they are great. I ran 4 of the S4115H speakers in a stereo PA system for my trio. The system was powered by a Biamp TC-120 stereo power amp with 200W RMS output per channel /side. The sound system did double duty as my keyboard system - Rhodes,
Yamaha CS-5 for bass, and
Roland Juno-106 Synth, and the vocals. All of the sounds were produced clean and clear...nice full bass on the synth, keyboards, and even strings, as well as great vocal reproduction.
If you can find a pair of these in good condition, and don't mind the weight, I highly recommend buying them. If you have a bigger group and a large PA, these make great side fill monitors.
